The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gerrit Roordink was the one to do the kick off. In the 76th minute of the match Ralph Brouwers shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Humberto Harms showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. With a little luck, Hanendorp VV's Humberto Harms got control of the ball when Sjoerd Arts tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 84th minute Jhon Roelofs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hub Hilbrands saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hub Hilbrands showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jhon Roelofs, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. 94 minutes into the match, Michael Overmars had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hub Hilbrands. Slikkerveer S.V.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Michael Overmars was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Hanendorp VV's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
