Bakhuizen HC's Theo Huizinga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pierre Vennegoor in the 14th minute of play. Theo Hilhorst was extremely unlucky when he, in the 15th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Pierre Vennegoor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joep Ubels might have been able to make a better finish in the 29th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nathan Zenden. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joep Ubels ran back to his position shaking his head. Middeldijk's Nathan Zenden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jan Popken in the 31st minute of play. A collision led to Bakhuizen HC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Tonny Bosman hit a great ball. Joep Ubels recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Middeldijk's Theo Hilhorst came free and shot a quick shot against goal 41 minutes in the game, fortunately Theo Huizinga had problems saving as it came toward the left post. After 43 minutes Bakhuizen HC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Andreas Poelman who took care of the corner kick. Pierre Vennegoor's late challenge caught a Bakhuizen HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pierre Vennegoor helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Middeldijk's Pierre Vennegoor got a free kick in the 45th minute. 49 minutes into the match, Middeldijk's goal looked a bit too open when Jan Popken came free, but Nathan Zenden reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joep Ubels made a kick off. After some careless play in the Bakhuizen HC defense, Pierre Vennegoor kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Theo Huizinga. The Bakhuizen HC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Theo Huizinga should have stopped the shot. Jan Popken struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Nathan Zenden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bakhuizen HC. Theo Hilhorst struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Theo Huizinga came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Middeldijk's Godfried Zethof. But to his dismay, Godfried Zethof quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. If Theo Hilhorst had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. In the 89th minute, Pierre Vennegoor made a precise shot to the right of Theo Huizinga. Bakhuizen HC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Theo Hilhorst blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Theo Huizinga having to make a save. Theo Hilhorst sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Middeldijk had played much better football throughout.
