The audience was convinced that Jelle Brinke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henk Roswinkel was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. 4 minutes into the match, Stavenisse's goal looked a bit too open when Jelle Brinke came free, but Henk Roswinkel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With an all-out effort, Doornsteeg's Henk Roswinkel threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Jelle Brinke, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Henk Roswinkel came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Doornsteeg's Gerjan van der Gun. But to his dismay, Gerjan van der Gun quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 21st minute Pim Hilbrands shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egbert Matthijs saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Wim Eggens had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stavenisse's Pim Hilbrands got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 28 played minutes Doornsteeg got a freekick which was hit by Nick van Zalen. If Gerjan van der Gun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Egbert Matthijs took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wim Eggens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 48 minutes into the match, Jelle Brinke dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Henk Roswinkel, 2-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Wim Eggens was the one to do the kick off. Doornsteeg's Egbert Matthijs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wim Eggens in the 54th minute of play. With his leg Egbert Matthijs managed to avoid a goal in the 56thth minute, when Stavenisse's Pim Hilbrands fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a little luck, Doornsteeg's Egbert Matthijs got control of the ball when Sven Hansma tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gerjan van der Gun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henk Roswinkel having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Pim Hilbrands fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. During the 71st minute of the match Jelle Brinke completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Jelle Brinke a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Jelle Brinke kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. Wim Eggens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Pim Hilbrands had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Eggens in the 76th minute of play forced Doornsteeg's goalkeeper Egbert Matthijs to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ed Spijker fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henk Roswinkel having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Stavenisse's zone, Gerjan van der Gun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Henk Roswinkel came out of the goal and Gerjan van der Gun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot by Sven Hansma from long distance, 97 minutes into the match, got Egbert Matthijs's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Doornsteeg's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
