The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jan Staal struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Grixhoek's Lucas Sans got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Menno Reinders charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Menno Reinders the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 played minutes Grixhoek got a freekick which was hit by Menno Reinders. A collision led to Sleewijk FC getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Wim Sterenberg hit a great ball. In the 37th minute, Grixhoek's Tim Bense seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Tim Bense the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Grixhoek protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Tim Bense had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 37th minute of the game. One of Grixhoek:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sleewijk FC:s goal. In the 40th minute there was a penalty for Sleewijk FC. Ron Duin stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bastiaan Rodenboog. 1-0. If Bjorn Pieters had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan Staal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Domenik Rieks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wim Sterenberg made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Wim Sterenberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bastiaan Rodenboog saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Bjorn Pieters fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Grixhoek's protests and gave Bjorn Pieters a yellow card for diving instead. When Harmen Hermensen came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Sleewijk FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Harmen Hermensen couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Sleewijk FC's zone, Bjorn Pieters stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Domenik Rieks came out of the goal and Bjorn Pieters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jan Staal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wim Sterenberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bastiaan Rodenboog having to interfere. Daniël Huisingh kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Daniël Huisingh hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Jan Staal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Domenik Rieks tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
