But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ate Soer couldn't finish the play. Stroobos FC's Anthony Aelbrecht played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Richard Popken in the 30th minute of play. Ate Soer was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 40th minute. Stroobos FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Jef Evers took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 47th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bram Bruin. Duurendseind RKSV's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After the first half Duurendseind RKSV were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ate Soer made a kick off. After 52 played minutes Duurendseind RKSV got a freekick which was hit by Nico Kruis. Rolf de Zwart's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bram Bruin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. Bram Bruin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ate Soer in the 60th minute of play. Chiel van Zwieten hit a great freekick 60 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Duurendseind RKSV's Anthony Aelbrecht threw himself towards the right post 66 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bill Melis, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Anthony Aelbrecht tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 80th minute of the game. One of Duurendseind RKSV:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Stroobos FC:s goal. In the 82nd minute there was a penalty for Stroobos FC. Jef Evers stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Bram Bruin. 1-1. Richard Popken sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bram Bruin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ate Soer in the 89th minute of the match. Ate Soer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Bram Bruin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chiel van Zwieten's late challenge caught a Stroobos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
