Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Karsten Ijspol made the kick off which started today's match. 6 minutes into the game, Marc Ponk was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Schiedam FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Echteld the free kick. In the 7th minute, Marc Ponk hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 8 played minutes Schiedam FC got a freekick which was hit by Ton Mueller. After 9 played minutes, Echteld's Bram Zuidema shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Wim Roelofs came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Echteld reached it. 15 minutes into the match, Echteld's goal looked a bit too open when Karsten Ijspol came free, but Brain Terpstra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Schiedam FC's zone, Jelle Adriaanse stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wim Roelofs came out of the goal and Jelle Adriaanse tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Alfred de Kort fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Schiedam FC's protests and gave Alfred de Kort a yellow card for diving instead. After some careless play in the Schiedam FC defense, Jelle Adriaanse kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Wim Roelofs. The Schiedam FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Wim Roelofs should have stopped the shot. Schiedam FC's Wim Roelofs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jelle Adriaanse in the 23rd minute of play. In the 30th minute of the match Bram Zuidema sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Wim Roelofs skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 31 minutes, Arie Spiering managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Schiedam FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arie Spiering was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arie Spiering got free with Brain Terpstra in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arie Spiering blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Brain Terpstra having to make a save. If Karsten Ijspol had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Niels-Jan de Haan hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Dirk Jan Baker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jelle Adriaanse blasted a shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wim Roelofs having to make a save. Herbert van Olst charged in rather forcefully in the 65th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Herbert van Olst the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Schiedam FC's Herbert van Olst got a free kick in the 65th minute. Dirk Jan Baker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Wim Roelofs made a huge save. Arie Spiering struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Brain Terpstra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Schiedam FC. In the 74thth minute of the game Karsten Ijspol who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Echteld's Brain Terpstra was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Arie Spiering sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brain Terpstra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karsten Ijspol, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Schiedam FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Herbert van Olst hit a great ball. Jelle Adriaanse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wim Roelofs having to interfere. Dirk Jan Baker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Wim Roelofs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dirk Jan Baker struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Wim Roelofs didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Echteld. Dirk Jan Bakers short, quick shot in the 93rdth minute got Wim Roelofs to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Echteld supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Echteld would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
