Rogier Kun tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boukjan Redan in the 6th minute of play forced Ederveen's goalkeeper Rogier Kun to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rogier Kun didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Pieter Schiphouwer went, in the 9th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 13 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Ederveen! Boukjan Redan struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Rogier Kun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moerwijk FC. When Hans Veldman came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Ederveen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hans Veldman couldn't finish the play. In the 25th match minute, Ederveen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peter Wibier to maneuver through the defense. After 28 played minutes Ederveen got a freekick which was hit by Klaus Brinks. Moerwijk FC's Pieter Schiphouwer got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hans Veldman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pieter Schiphouwer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogier Kun having to interfere. Boukjan Redan struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Rogier Kun didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moerwijk FC. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Boukjan Redan made a kick off. Ederveen's Rogier Kun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boukjan Redan in the 53rd minute of play. After 58 minutes, Ed Overmars mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ederveen and the Moerwijk FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 62nd minute, Klaus Brinks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Peter Wibier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Menno Stam having to interfere. In the 68th minute, Hans Veldman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hans Veldman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Menno Stam having to make a save. Pieter Schiphouwer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Boukjan Redan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 92 minutes into the match, Ederveen's goal looked a bit too open when Pieter Schiphouwer came free, but Rogier Kun reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Ederveen's zone, Boukjan Redan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rogier Kun came out of the goal and Boukjan Redan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Rogier Kun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boukjan Redan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rogier Kun stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Boukjan Redan's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ederveen players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Moerwijk FC.
