After 23 played minutes, Wijkel SC's Remond de Boer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Arno Cruijff came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wijkel SC reached it. Nieuwleusen FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 24th minute, when Reinier Ubels scored to the left of an out of position Arno Cruijff, making the score, 1-0. 29 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Wijkel SC's Reinier Ubels fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. Arno Cruijff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reinier Ubels in the 36th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacques Harmsen in the 41st minute of play forced Wijkel SC's goalkeeper Elmar Tellingen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Falco Bont's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Arno Cruijff firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jacques Harmsen to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Jan Oost shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arno Cruijff saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Falco Bont struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Arno Cruijff didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wijkel SC. Reinier Ubels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Arno Cruijff tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Reintjes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Elmar Tellingen having to make a save. If Jacques Harmsen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jacques Harmsen was extremely unlucky when he, in the 67th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 70th minute, Henk-Jan Veldman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Falco Bont had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arno Cruijff stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reinier Ubels's shot from short distance in the 80th minute. Jan Oost hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Tomas Reintjes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arno Cruijff showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Oost in the 97th minute of the match. The Nieuwleusen FC players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Wijkel SC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
