Haghoek's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After having played for 14 minutes, Barry Keupink managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. IJzendijke's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barry Keupink was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barry Keupink in the 15th minute of play forced Haghoek's goalkeeper Edward Valx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edward Valx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barry Keupink, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 25 minutes into the match, IJzendijke's goal looked a bit too open when Giovanni Looze came free, but Kees Ieberts reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. IJzendijke's supporters rose to their feet, but Barry Keupink was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Edward Valx breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Haghoek booed when IJzendijke was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Meindert Siepel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Wesley Abbekerk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kees Ieberts having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Barry Keupink stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Edward Valx came out of the goal and Albert den Engelsman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Giovanni Looze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kees Ieberts having to interfere. If Albert den Engelsman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
