Smal's Olaf Jonker proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Smal from getting a goal against them. Olaf Jonker made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathieu van Rhijn in the 19th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Otterdijk FC's Dennis Diest got a free kick in the 21st minute. The audience was convinced that Tomas Oosterbaan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tonnie Henselmans was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. 25 minutes into the game, Smal's Marcel Rijkaard nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tonnie Henselmans made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 2-1 became the score in the 28th minute when Mathieu van Rhijn elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Felix Tollenaar got in the 31st a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Olaf Jonker handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. After 32 played minutes Smal got a freekick which was hit by Michel Venema. In the 34th minute, Marcel Rijkaard made a precise shot to the right of Tonnie Henselmans. Otterdijk FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. If Tomas Oosterbaan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 43 minutes, Marcel Rijkaard managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Smal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcel Rijkaard was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tonnie Henselmans made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henk de Zwaan in the 47th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Mathieu van Rhijn made the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Tomas Oosterbaan fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Tonnie Henselmans, passed just outside the right post. Olaf Jonker took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Tollenaar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcel Rijkaard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tonnie Henselmans having to interfere. In the 57thth minute of the game Tomas Oosterbaan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Otterdijk FC's Tonnie Henselmans was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tonnie Henselmans took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Oosterbaan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Otterdijk FC booed when Smal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Allard Plagge didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mathieu van Rhijn in the 78th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olaf Jonker saved Smal from getting behind. Tomas Oosterbaan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Tonnie Henselmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcel Rijkaard struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Tonnie Henselmans didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Smal. Felix Tollenaar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 89th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tonnie Henselmans showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Oosterbaan in the 91st minute of the match. Allard Plagge received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Tonnie Henselmans tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Smal were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
