Heiko Berends's late challenge caught a Emminkhuizen Excelsior's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Heiko Berends helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Emminkhuizen Excelsior booed when Papenhoven FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heiko Berends didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Danny Berends in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Steven van Hintum saved Emminkhuizen Excelsior from getting behind. Steven van Hintum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danny Berends, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Stephan Spiljard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Steven van Hintum having to interfere. Steven van Hintum showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danny Berends in the 22nd minute of the match. Steven van Hintum stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Danny Berends's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Emminkhuizen Excelsior's zone, Stephan Spiljard stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Steven van Hintum came out of the goal and Stephan Spiljard tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stephan Spiljard struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Steven van Hintum didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Papenhoven FC. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Heiko Trenning managed to get in a good position for a shot. Papenhoven FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Heiko Trenning was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Steven van Hintum breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Philip Spierenburg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Ramon Bult tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Danny Berends recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Philip Spierenburg came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Emminkhuizen Excelsior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Philip Spierenburg couldn't finish the play. After 38 played minutes Papenhoven FC got a freekick which was hit by Heiko Trenning. After 41 minutes, Cobus Kruijs mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Emminkhuizen Excelsior and the Papenhoven FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 41st match minute, Emminkhuizen Excelsior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cobus Kruijs to maneuver through the defense. Emminkhuizen Excelsior's Tommie Walregt got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gerald Wielens fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramon Bult having to interfere. After having played for 76 minutes, Stephan Spiljard managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Papenhoven FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Stephan Spiljard was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Stephan Spiljard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Papenhoven FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Stephan Spiljard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
