Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Ronny van den Berg kicked off to start the match. Kees Ploeger fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogier van den Bergh having to interfere. Gerrit Degenkamp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Joost Das tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Martien de Bruin scored 1-0 in the 8th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rogier van den Bergh, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Geleen's zone, Kees Ploeger stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rogier van den Bergh came out of the goal and Kees Ploeger tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kees Ploeger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gerrit Degenkamp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronny van den Berg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frits Koekkoek during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Frits Koekkoek hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Ronny van den Berg scored 1-1 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joost Das, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Henk Theisens during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Henk Theisens hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Alwin Duinhoven's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Rogier van den Bergh on his right side and into the goal. 30 minutes into the game it was 2-1. Joost Das showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ronny van den Berg, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. 39 minutes into the game, one of Wierhuizen:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ronny van den Berg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kees Ploeger stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rogier van den Bergh showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martien de Bruin in the 54th minute of the match. When Pierre Rogaars fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Geleen's protests and gave Pierre Rogaars a yellow card for diving instead. 64 minutes into the game, Wierhuizen's Kees Ploeger nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rogier van den Bergh made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. Martien de Bruin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Rogier van den Bergh tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Geleen's Rogier van den Bergh played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kees Ploeger in the 72nd minute of play. In the 73rd match minute, Wierhuizen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alwin Duinhoven to maneuver through the defense. Ronny van den Berg was extremely unlucky when he, in the 74th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. If Gerrit Degenkamp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Geleen were furious when Ronald Akkerman was red carded, 83 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Geleen fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! Geleen:s Rogier van den Bergh showed great skill when he stopped Alwin Duinhoven:s penalty. Martien de Bruin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Kees Ploeger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogier van den Bergh saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Gerrit Degenkamp came up free with the goalie in the 93rd minute, the Geleen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerrit Degenkamp couldn't finish the play.
