After 5 minutes, Gerard Uebels mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Volendam FC and the Leie FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cobus Haan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Theo Geraets made a huge save. Andre Zwinkels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Cees Bakhuis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lucien Bakhuis to make the kick off. Theo Geraets showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lucien Bakhuis, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Cobus Haan struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Theo Geraets didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Volendam FC. When Andre Zwinkels came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Leie FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andre Zwinkels couldn't finish the play. When the match had gone on for 97 minutes, Andre Zwinkels put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Cees Bakhuis. Leie FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
