The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Erwin van Zalingen's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jordy Zwartkruis read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. 6 minutes into the match, Veldbraak's goal looked a bit too open when Henk Hesp came free, but Franck Woering reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Henk Hesp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Jan Ter sped through Gerverskop's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jordy Zwartkruis. Jan Ter scored 2-0 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jordy Zwartkruis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Erwin van Zalingen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Jordy Zwartkruis tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Gerverskop getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Hendrik-Jan Rodenberg hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erwin van Zalingen in the 37th minute of play forced Gerverskop's goalkeeper Jordy Zwartkruis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Gerverskop booed when Veldbraak was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Florian Soer didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Veldbraak getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Jan Ter hit a great ball. Erwin van Zalingen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Henk Hesp stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jan Ter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jordy Zwartkruis having to interfere. 59 minutes into the match, Gerverskop's goal looked a bit too open when Erwin van Zalingen came free, but Jordy Zwartkruis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bart Stevens's late challenge caught a Veldbraak's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bart Stevens helped the player get up and apologised. Bart Stevens hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. If Jan Ter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jordy Zwartkruis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Erwin van Zalingen, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erwin van Zalingen in the 63rd minute of play forced Gerverskop's goalkeeper Jordy Zwartkruis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mathias Knopper hit a great ball. Jordy Zwartkruis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jan Ter in the 77th minute of the match. Despite this Jordy Zwartkruis quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jordy Zwartkruis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erwin van Zalingen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gerverskop's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
