Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Ab Borg started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. The audience was convinced that Reinhard Hulshof's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rudolf Mook was relentless in the 3rd minute of the game. When Dirk Degenkamp fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gieterveen's protests and gave Dirk Degenkamp a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 minutes, Fokke Tamminga mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gieterveen and the Sexbierum HC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Gieterveen getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Fokke Tamminga hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Sexbierum HC's zone, Dirk Degenkamp stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Foeke Höhenstein came out of the goal and Dirk Degenkamp tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Dirk Degenkamp managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gieterveen's supporters rose to their feet, but Dirk Degenkamp was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Foeke Höhenstein breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Foeke Höhenstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ab Borg in the 24th minute of play. Reinhard Hulshof sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Rudolf Mook showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Frits Pander, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. In the 42nd minute, Dirk Degenkamp fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Dirk Degenkamp recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frits Pander made a kick off. After 53 played minutes Gieterveen got a freekick which was hit by Pepijn Rijaard. 54 minutes into the match, Sexbierum HC's Jan-Joost de Visscher broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Foeke Höhenstein showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dirk Degenkamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. The supporters of Gieterveen booed when Sexbierum HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jouke Degenkamp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rudolf Mook didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Reinhard Hulshof went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 72 minutes into the game, Victor Maurits was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sexbierum HC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gieterveen the free kick. A collision led to Sexbierum HC getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Victor Maurits hit a great ball. Reinhard Hulshof succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 75th playminute. Dirk Degenkamp recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dirk Degenkamp sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gieterveen! When the match had been going on for 87 minutes, Sexbierum HC's Jan-Joost de Visscher got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Rudolf Mook. If Ab Borg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute of the match Pepijn Rijaard sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Foeke Höhenstein skillfully saved the ball. If Dirk Degenkamp had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 98 minutes of play, Gieterveen's Ab Borg made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Foeke Höhenstein was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Sexbierum HC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
