In the 4th minute, Giel Baker got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. René Ridder sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when René Ridder got free with Maurice Borst in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 13th minute Fred Nelissen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hette Wilhelm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maurice Borst made an important save on a dangerous shot by René Ridder in the 15th minute. Izaak Brunt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maurice Borst read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 19th minute of play. Maurice Borst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Izaak Brunt in the 21st minute of the match. Gortel's René Ridder got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Izaak Brunt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Izaak Brunt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurice Borst having to interfere. Maurice Borst made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when René Ridder sent off a good shot on target. Giel Baker recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Hette Wilhelm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fred Nelissen in the 36th minute of the match. Gortel's Hette Wilhelm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Nelissen in the 38th minute of play. In the 44th play minute René Ridder came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Maurice Borst. 1-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

René Ridder recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 57th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gortel's goalkeeper Hette Wilhelm, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Iwan Haydon's late challenge caught a Gortel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Izaak Brunt managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gortel's supporters rose to their feet, but Izaak Brunt was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Maurice Borst breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Heerle S.V. getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Tonnie Appeldoorn hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Gortel's Henry Veltman tried to score from far away in the 87th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If René Ridder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
