When Klaas Abbenbroek came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Lutten HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Klaas Abbenbroek couldn't finish the play. Marcus Zegers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elroy Bosschaart having to interfere. Elroy Bosschaart made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Zegers in the 17th minute of play. Luc van der Bij hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Lutten HC's Henk Robbermond tried to score from far away in the 19th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tjeppenboer VV's goalkeeper Elroy Bosschaart, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Guus Pik came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Lutten HC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guus Pik couldn't finish the play. In the 27th minute, René Rijaard got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Marcus Zegers fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Lutten HC's protests and gave Marcus Zegers a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Tjeppenboer VV booed when Lutten HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Zegers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luc van der Bij hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Marcus Zegers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Luc van der Bij during the 38th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Marcus Zegers managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lutten HC's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcus Zegers was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Elroy Bosschaart breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guus Pik was the one to do the kick off. Luc van der Bij kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. Guus Pik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Elroy Bosschaart tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Lutten HC getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Klaas Abbenbroek hit a great ball. René Rijaard sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Yuri Damen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mathias Beerthuis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Tjeppenboer VV's Elroy Bosschaart got control of the ball when Marcus Zegers tried to sneak it across the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Guus Pik in the 83rd minute of play forced Tjeppenboer VV's goalkeeper Elroy Bosschaart to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Guus Pik sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mathias Beerthuis in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yuri Damen saved Lutten HC from getting behind. If Guus Pik had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
