Jouke Tollenaar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Timo Tijink tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Michel van Herwijnen kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. Edgard Sybring could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Bruno de Hondt made a huge save. When Soeslo's Henk-Jan Wiggers in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Boksum Excelsior's goalie prevented a goal. Henk-Jan Wiggers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The supporters of Soeslo booed when Boksum Excelsior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gert Jan Joppets didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 43rd minute, Leendert Wittendorp sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Boksum Excelsior's Bruno de Hondt didn't even have to move. Bruno de Hondt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edgard Sybring went, in the 45th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Henk-Jan Wiggers to strike the kick off in the second half. Edgard Sybring received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Bruno de Hondt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Boksum Excelsior's Bruno de Hondt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henk-Jan Wiggers in the 56th minute of play. If Edgard Sybring had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Soeslo's goalkeeper Timo Tijink, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 68th minute, Edgard Sybring got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th minute Henk-Jan Wiggers shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno de Hondt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 78 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Boksum Excelsior! In the 84th minute, Bob Eiting hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boksum Excelsior were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Soeslo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Werner Middeljans took the corner. Boksum Excelsior's Werner Middeljans was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Timo Tijink in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Timo Tijink made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Jouke Tollenaar sent off a good shot on target. Edgard Sybring received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Boksum Excelsior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jouke Tollenaar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Boksum Excelsior's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
