If Gilbert Robben had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Godfried Rieks's late challenge caught a Wamel HC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Godfried Rieks helped the player get up and apologised. Godfried Rieks hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Ernst Frankena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Gerald Houwing had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute, Gilbert Robben got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With an all-out effort, Gorpeind's Egbert Brugmans threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gilbert Robben, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Egbert Brugmans was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fokke Dost could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 49th minute of the match, but Egbert Brugmans made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernst Frankena made a kick off. In the 56th minute Fokke Dost shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egbert Brugmans saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Gilbert Robben had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egbert Brugmans. Wamel HC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gilbert Robben was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Fred Witting had great luck who in the 62ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Ernst Frankena from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. If Fokke Dost had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 80 minutes into the game, Gorpeind's Gilbert Robben nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Egbert Brugmans made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After having played for 89 minutes, Gilbert Robben managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gorpeind's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilbert Robben was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gerald Houwing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fred Witting having to interfere. If Roel Geraets had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wamel HC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
