Veenklooster HC's Eelco Dijken played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arnold Doren in the 40th minute of play. The supporters of Augstbuurt booed when Veenklooster HC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ab de Vries didn't get a good kick on the ball. 47 minutes into the match, Veenklooster HC's goal looked a bit too open when Frits de Mol came free, but Eelco Dijken reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnold Doren struck a weak shot in the 48th minute. Eelco Dijken didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Augstbuurt. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

After a rather tough play, Veenklooster HC's Sjef Maas got a free kick in the 52nd minute. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 57th minute of the game. One of Augstbuurt:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Veenklooster HC:s goal. Roland Vondel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorn Middel having to interfere. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Veenklooster HC's goalkeeper Eelco Dijken, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 75th minute, Arjen Lindenbergh hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Allard van Zwam took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 75th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Jorn Middel. Augstbuurt's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Eelco Dijken made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Frits de Mol sent off a good shot on target. 84 minutes into the game, Pascal Dol recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eelco Dijken. Pascal Dol showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Arnold Doren managed to get in a good position for a shot. Augstbuurt's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnold Doren was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eelco Dijken breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Eelco Dijken made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frits de Mol in the 91st minute of play. If Roland Vondel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
