The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Geefsweer's Ferdi Borg got a free kick in the 9th minute. Geefsweer's Harald Klaasens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernst Stekelenburg in the 18th minute of play. Harald Klaasens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rick Germs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 22nd minute Frans Rademaker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harald Klaasens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Geefsweer's goal looked a bit too open when Frans Rademaker came free, but Harald Klaasens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute Ernst Stekelenburg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harald Klaasens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Frans Rademaker in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Harald Klaasens prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Bergeijk booed when Geefsweer was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tonnie van der Werff didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rick Germs struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Harald Klaasens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bergeijk. When Bergeijk's Ernst Stekelenburg in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Giovanni Korevaar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Bergeijk were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frans Rademaker was the one to do the kick off. In the 53rd minute Frans Rademaker shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harald Klaasens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hans Rogaars's late challenge caught a Bergeijk's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hans Rogaars helped the player get up and apologised. 56 minutes into the game, one of Geefsweer:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Harald Klaasens had in the 58thth minute some difficulties stopping Daan Mos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 58th minute, Daan Mos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bergeijk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3. Ernst Stekelenburg in the 65thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Harald Klaasens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frans Rademaker in the 95th minute of the match. Ernst Stekelenburgs short, quick shot in the 97thth minute got Harald Klaasens to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Frans Rademaker who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 98thth minute tested the skills of Harald Klaasens when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tonnie van der Werff kicked well hit freekick during the 99th minute of the match.
