The audience thought a goal was coming when Bertus Rijkaard got free with Jaap Roetering in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 26 minutes into the game, Eikenheuvel's Gerald Stroeve nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Auke Owusu Abeyie made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 28th minute, Harald Nijhof hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eikenheuvel's Jaap Roetering proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Eikenheuvel from getting a goal against them. Jaap Roetering took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacques Davids, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jaap Roetering made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bertus Rijkaard in the 36th minute. When Ronaldinho 楚城 came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Eikenheuvel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldinho 楚城 couldn't finish the play. Harald Nijhof hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. 47 minutes into the match, Eikenheuvel's goal looked a bit too open when Pepijn Busch came free, but Jaap Roetering reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Gregor Borker's late challenge caught a Eikenheuvel's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gregor Borker helped the player get up and apologised. Gregor Borker kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Ronaldinho 楚城 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Auke Owusu Abeyie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Hijken's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gerald Stroeve fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
