Edward Klaassen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Folker Zoetebier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 11th minute, SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN's Tom Sibon dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Rafael Rijkaard showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hans Niekamp in the 22nd minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, FC Bakbeest's goalkeeper Rafael Rijkaard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Kristof Kamps. After having played for 29 minutes, Franck Akkerman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Bakbeest's supporters crossed their fingers, but Franck Akkerman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marco Langenbach received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Rafael Rijkaard tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN booed when FC Bakbeest was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donny Hoogsteen didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, FC Bakbeest's goalkeeper Rafael Rijkaard had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Henk Bartele. If Jelte Nieuwburg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the match, FC Bakbeest's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Langenbach came free, but Rafael Rijkaard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Folker Zoetebier was the one to do the kick off. SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN's Marco Langenbach got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kristof Kamps's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rafael Rijkaard read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Edward Klaassen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franck Akkerman in the 59th minute of play. After a rather tough play, FC Bakbeest's Richard Dalman got a free kick in the 62nd minute. After recieving a nice pass, SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN's Henk Bartele tried to score from far away in the 64th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN's Kristof Kamps got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 74 minutes into the match, FC Bakbeest's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Langenbach came free, but Rafael Rijkaard reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rafael Rijkaard showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kristof Kamps, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emiel van Kampen during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 77 played minutes FC Bakbeest got a freekick which was hit by Emiel van Kampen. When SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN's Marco Langenbach in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. When Donny Hoogsteen fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Bakbeest's protests and gave Donny Hoogsteen a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st match minute, FC Bakbeest was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donny Hoogsteen to maneuver through the defense. SC CAMBUUR LEEUWARDEN walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
