Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edward Bajo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrea Palmier charged in rather forcefully in the 6th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andrea Palmier the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 6th minute, Andrea Palmier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ian Falzon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edward Bajo's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. Adriano Scifo might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ian Falzon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Adriano Scifo ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Sliema's zone, Edmond Cascun stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Brady Fabri came out of the goal and Edmond Cascun tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Roderick Gonzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Falzon having to interfere. Roderick Gonzi who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 30thth minute tested the skills of Ian Falzon when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Roderick Gonzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Falzon having to interfere. In the 37th minute of the game, Adriano Girard landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After a rather tough play, Luxol Stars's Dylan Lia got a free kick in the 38th minute. Brady Fabri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nathaniel Abateo in the 43rd minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Roderick Gonzi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Luxol Stars's Andrea Palmier got a free kick in the 53rd minute. If Frederick Incorvaia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dylan Lia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Brady Fabri read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Adriano Scifo's late challenge caught a Luxol Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adriano Scifo helped the player get up and apologised. In the 68th match minute, Sliema was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adriano Scifo to maneuver through the defense. Brady Fabri acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 69th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Matthew Bailey. Paul Bugeja's late challenge caught a Luxol Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paul Bugeja helped the player get up and apologised. In the 75th minute Nathaniel Abateo managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. In the 78th minute, Edmond Cascun got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Edmond Cascun could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Brady Fabri made a huge save. Nathaniel Abateo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Brady Fabri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ian Falzon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roderick Gonzi in the 91st minute of the match. After having played for 92 minutes, Roderick Gonzi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sliema's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roderick Gonzi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 95th minute, Dylan Lia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
