Blata l-Bajda's Gavin Cornelisse played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joe Attard in the 11th minute of play. Joe Attard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Gavin Cornelisse tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th minute, Andrea Lowell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Clifton Valletta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Gavin Cornelisse made a huge save. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cospicua's goalkeeper Carl De Piro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Clifton Valletta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cospicua's supporters rose to their feet, but Clifton Valletta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gavin Cornelisse breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Carl De Piro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luca Hili in the 44th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Julian Gafà was the one to do the kick off. 54 minutes into the game, Clifton Pulo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cospicua's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blata l-Bajda the free kick. After 53 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Cospicua! The referee gave Blata l-Bajda a penalty, 55 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Kevin Harmsworth, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Cospicua's Carl De Piro. 1-1. If Julian Gafà had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luca Hili struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Carl De Piro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Blata l-Bajda. Joe Attard hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Julian Gafà recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 90 minutes, Luca Hili managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blata l-Bajda's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luca Hili was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Julian Gafà blasted a shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carl De Piro having to make a save. After 92 played minutes Blata l-Bajda got a freekick which was hit by Andrea Lowell. Clifton Valletta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gavin Cornelisse having to interfere. If Joe Attard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
