The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kyle Alamango ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Stephen Cassar Overend put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Dennis Bigeni. Dennis Bigeni acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 24th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Michele Grimaud. 27 minutes into the game, Kyle Alamango recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Dennis Bigeni. Kyle Alamango showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Stephen Cassar Overend fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Bigeni having to interfere. With his leg Dennis Bigeni managed to avoid a goal in the 40thth minute, when Luqa SA's Stephen Cassar Overend fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell George Cristina to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Stephen Cassar Overend put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Dennis Bigeni. When Kyle Alamango came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Luqa SA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kyle Alamango couldn't finish the play. When John Galdes fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Luqa SA's protests and gave John Galdes a yellow card for diving instead. Kyle Alamango fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dennis Bigeni having to interfere. If Stephen Cassar Overend had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
