Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) 3 minutes into the match, Santa Luċija's goal looked a bit too open when Massimo Tufignio came free, but Fabio Sapienza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matt Xiberras scored 0-1 in the 5th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fabio Sapienza, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 9 minutes, Karl De Marco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santa Luċija's supporters crossed their fingers, but Karl De Marco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 11 minutes into the match, Massimo Tufignio had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fabio Sapienza. Santa Luċija's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Massimo Tufignio was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. If Matt Xiberras had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Amadeo Cauchi in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adrian Buhagiar saved FK Kai from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Amadeo Cauchi in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Adrian Buhagiar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. FK Kai's Matt Xiberras got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Adrian Buhagiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Amadeo Cauchi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amadeo Cauchi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Buhagiar having to interfere. After 46 minutes, Glenn Brincat mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Luċija and the FK Kai players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of FK Kai booed when Santa Luċija was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Glenn Brincat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santa Luċija's Fabio Sapienza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matt Xiberras in the 49th minute of play. After the first half FK Kai were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Massimo Tufignio to make the kick off. Fabio Sapienza was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Massimo Tufignio capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Massimo Tufignio really showed his touch with that goal: 1-3. Adrian Buhagiar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl De Marco in the 56th minute of the match. Karl De Marco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Adrian Buhagiar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 67 minutes, Stephan Rapinett mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Luċija and the FK Kai players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 66th minute of the game. One of Santa Luċija:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FK Kai:s goal. Karl De Marco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adrian Buhagiar having to interfere. FK Kai's Adrian Buhagiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeo Cauchi in the 72nd minute of play. Adriano Flask hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Santa Luċija's Karl De Marco got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Santa Luċija getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Glenn Brincat hit a great ball. FK Kai's Adrian Buhagiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl De Marco in the 90th minute of play. 92 minutes into the match, Santa Luċija's Dejan Demanuele broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Adrian Buhagiar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Karl De Marco, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Adrian Buhagiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeo Cauchi in the 95th minute of play. In the 96th minute, Joseph Apap hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 97 minutes into the match, Santa Luċija's Karl De Marco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adrian Buhagiar narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Chants of FK Kai echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Santa Luċija had held the ball for most of the match.
