One of LUX U21 TEAM:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg:s goal. In the 4th minute there was a penalty for Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg. Tim Hoffmann stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Alfred Auf der Maur. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Ries in the 8th minute of play forced Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg's goalkeeper Mark Wagner to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfred Auf der Maur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elmar Behrend in the 11th minute of the match. If Igor Bachmayer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bruno Opitz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 19th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alfred Auf der Maur. LUX U21 TEAM's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 21st minute Isaac Breitinger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Auf der Maur saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Elmar Behrend received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Alfred Auf der Maur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfred Auf der Maur took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Isaac Breitinger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elmar Behrend received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Alfred Auf der Maur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 33 minutes into the game, Igor Bachmayer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Mark Wagner was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg booed when LUX U21 TEAM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Ries didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg's zone, Igor Bachmayer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Wagner came out of the goal and Igor Bachmayer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Isaac Breitinger to strike the kick off in the second half. Isaac Breitinger received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Alfred Auf der Maur tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mark Wagner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Ries in the 56th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 58 minutes, Isaac Breitinger took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Alfred Auf der Maur to make any attempt to save it. Mark Wagner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Igor Bachmayer in the 63rd minute of the match. If Elmar Behrend had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Isaac Breitinger came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Isaac Breitinger couldn't finish the play. 71 minutes into the match, Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg's Elmar Behrend sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alfred Auf der Maur narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Igor Bachmayer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Mark Wagner tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pierre Thill struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Alfred Auf der Maur didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Elmar Behrend fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfred Auf der Maur having to interfere. Christian Ries sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 95 minutes into the game, Pierre Thill was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave LUX U21 TEAM the free kick. A collision led to Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Pierre Thill hit a great ball. Alfred Auf der Maur made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when Elmar Behrend sent off a good shot on target. Club Athletic Lëtzebuerg played a much better game than LUX U21 TEAM and deserved their victory. The LUX U21 TEAM players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
