In the 3rd match minute, Horbury was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Duncan Duckworth to maneuver through the defense. Horbury's Les Attenborough got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Horbury's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julian Leadbeater was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Duncan Duckworth came up free with the goalie in the 36th minute, the Horbury fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duncan Duckworth couldn't finish the play. Duncan Duckworth scored 0-2 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Philip Amann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Horbury's Les Attenborough got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half Horbury were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ebley AFC's Philip Amann proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Ebley AFC from getting a goal against them. After 59 minutes of play, Ebley AFC's Fredrik Günther made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Steven Duxbury was left in no man's land by his defense there! Russell Morris's late challenge caught a Ebley AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Russell Morris helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Ebley AFC's zone, Les Attenborough stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Philip Amann came out of the goal and Les Attenborough tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 70 minutes, Adam Behm mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ebley AFC and the Horbury players grew even worse after the yellow card. Philip Amann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duncan Duckworth in the 81st minute of the match. In the 83rd minute, Duncan Duckworth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Les Attenborough received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Philip Amann tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ebley AFC's Philip Amann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duncan Duckworth in the 87th minute of play. In the 90th minute, Ebley AFC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Les Attenborough fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ebley AFC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 91st minute, when Duncan Duckworth scored to the left of an out of position Philip Amann, making the score, 1-4. In the 94th minute, Duncan Duckworth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Philip Amann made an important save on a dangerous shot by Les Attenborough in the 96th minute. If Duncan Duckworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
