Burnham on Crouch's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave St Neots the free kick. The supporters of St Neots booed when Burnham on Crouch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. CJ Vickers didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ron Tipton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 34 minutes into the game, St Neots's Gareth Couch nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ron Tipton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. When Aaron Dawes came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Burnham on Crouch fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aaron Dawes couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, St Neots's goal looked a bit too open when Jermaine Kent came free, but Austin Oldham reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 44 played minutes St Neots got a freekick which was hit by Tom Newton. If Charlie Flack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The Burnham on Crouch fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. St Neots were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
