The audience was convinced that Charlie Flack's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ronnie Holdsworth was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Ronnie Holdsworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gareth Couch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rod Chivers struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Austin Oldham didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Englefield Green. Mick Ainsworth charged in rather forcefully in the 20th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mick Ainsworth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Englefield Green's Mick Ainsworth got a free kick in the 20th minute. In the 22nd minute Charlie Flack shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronnie Holdsworth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Gareth Couch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th match minute, St Neots was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gareth Couch to maneuver through the defense. The audience was convinced that Sid Flintoff's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Austin Oldham was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Ash Askew kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. Rod Chivers charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. St Neots's Austin Oldham proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save St Neots from getting a goal against them. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sid Flintoff to strike the kick off in the second half. Austin Oldham took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mick Ainsworth, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sid Flintoff recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 59th minute, Cody Rider hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 61st minute, Gareth Couch fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Gareth Couch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Ronnie Holdsworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of St Neots booed when Englefield Green was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Appleton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 69 minutes, Ronnie Holdsworth successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Austin Oldham showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sid Flintoff, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Charlie Flack in the 89th minute of play forced Englefield Green's goalkeeper Ronnie Holdsworth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 94th minute Sid Flintoff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Austin Oldham saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 95 minutes, Rod Chivers managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Englefield Green's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rod Chivers was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. For all the effort they put into the match, the St Neots players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Englefield Green.
