But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ralph Bärwald couldn't finish the play. With an all-out effort, Ilkeston's Joe Dingle threw himself towards the right post 5 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ralph Bärwald, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ged Hutchinson during the 9th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ged Hutchinson kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Abbey Wood fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 14th minute. Penalty! Joe Dingle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matty Eckstein, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ralph Bärwald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A hard shot 21 in the game by Matty Eckstein from a close distance when the talented Joe Dingle managed to make a qualified save. Abbey Wood's players were relieved. The supporters of Ilkeston booed when Abbey Wood was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ged Hutchinson didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Matty Eckstein dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Joe Dingle, 2-0. Ralph Bärwald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Joe Dingle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joe Dingle didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ralph Bärwald went, in the 30th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. 34 minutes into the match, Abbey Wood's goalkeeper Joe Dingle had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matty Eckstein. 38 minutes into the game, Ilkeston's Matty Eckstein nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joe Dingle made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ralph Bärwald to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Abbey Wood defense, Matty Eckstein kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joe Dingle. The Abbey Wood fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joe Dingle should have stopped the shot. 58 minutes into the match, Matty Eckstein notched a goal, 6-0, to the right of Abbey Wood's Joe Dingle. Joe Dingle was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Abbey Wood's Joe Dingle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matty Eckstein in the 65th minute of play. Zack Eslworth charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zack Eslworth the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joe Dingle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matty Eckstein, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. In the 80th minute, Matty Eckstein got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ralph Bärwald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 83 minutes, Ralph Bärwald put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Joe Dingle. Matty Eckstein sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Joe Dingle showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ralph Bärwald, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. In the 90th minute, Ralph Bärwald ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joe Dingle was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0.
