Jean-Claude von Ancken sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 8th match minute, RedBoys Lëtzebuerg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jean-Claude von Ancken to maneuver through the defense. Gordon Holland's late challenge caught a RedBoys Lëtzebuerg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gordon Holland helped the player get up and apologised. 13 minutes into the game, Gordon Holland recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Philip Pröll. Gordon Holland showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. If Gerry Krier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Howden's Jonny Cheswick got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 24 played minutes Howden got a freekick which was hit by Gordon Holland. Vic Sewell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jean-Claude von Ancken in the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute Gerry Krier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vic Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jean-Claude von Ancken to make the kick off. Jonny Cheswick received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Philip Pröll tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Howden's Fred Mayfield got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 56th minute, Fred Mayfield got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Silvester Auerswald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 65th minute Silvester Auerswald shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vic Sewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Philip Pröll showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Freddy Jowsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. After a defensive mix-up in RedBoys Lëtzebuerg's zone, Fred Mayfield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Philip Pröll came out of the goal and Fred Mayfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danny Wercollier's late challenge caught a Howden's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Danny Wercollier helped the player get up and apologised. After 73 played minutes RedBoys Lëtzebuerg got a freekick which was hit by Danny Wercollier. Fred Mayfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Philip Pröll having to interfere. Vic Sewell made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jean-Claude von Ancken in the 82nd minute. Silvester Auerswald succeeded in the game's 84th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-1. In the 88th match minute, RedBoys Lëtzebuerg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claude Weiß to maneuver through the defense. When RedBoys Lëtzebuerg's Silvester Auerswald in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
