USS Enterprise's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Etxekopar was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. USS Enterprise's supporters rose to their feet, but Jérôme Schmit was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilhelm Hildmann's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fred Bruckmann read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. When Gottfried Ludwick fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stanway's protests and gave Gottfried Ludwick a yellow card for diving instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Ivan Schneider managed to get in a good position for a shot. USS Enterprise's supporters rose to their feet, but Ivan Schneider was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fred Bruckmann breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Stanway's goalkeeper Fred Bruckmann, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gottfried Ludwick hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Ralph von Hompesch zu Bolheim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Friedrich Grethen charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Friedrich Grethen the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. USS Enterprise had played much better football throughout.
