Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Grimsby's Mathias Bonato started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Domingo Soltermann got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 6th match minute, Hedge End United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Enrique Straub to maneuver through the defense. After 9 played minutes Grimsby got a freekick which was hit by Jeff Lipp. If Fidel Weltert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, Grimsby's goal looked a bit too open when Enrique Straub came free, but Gualtier Klein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 19 minutes into the game, Patricius Walt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hedge End United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grimsby the free kick. In the 20th minute, Patricius Walt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Domingo Soltermann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Jaime Zettel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 28 minutes, Domingo Soltermann managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Grimsby's supporters crossed their fingers, but Domingo Soltermann was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jaime Zettel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathias Bonato in the 34th minute of play. Grimsby's Gualtier Klein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Straub in the 35th minute of play. After 39 played minutes Hedge End United got a freekick which was hit by Kordt Gautschi. With an all-out effort, Grimsby's Jaime Zettel threw himself towards the right post 40 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Mathias Bonato, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When Enrique Straub fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hedge End United's protests and gave Enrique Straub a yellow card for diving instead. Enrique Straub kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fidel Weltert in the 50th minute of play forced Grimsby's goalkeeper Gualtier Klein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enrique Straub to make the kick off. After 60 minutes, Diego Odermatt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grimsby and the Hedge End United players grew even worse after the yellow card. When the match had been going on for 61 minutes, Hedge End United's Silvester Hurni got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gualtier Klein. Enrique Straub sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enrique Straub received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Gualtier Klein tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gualtier Klein stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Enrique Straub's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. If Enrique Straub had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fidel Weltert in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gualtier Klein, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Jeff Lipp kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. If Paddy Bruder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Enrique Straub's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gualtier Klein read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play.
