After a rather tough play, Castel Mella's Alfonso Vanni got a free kick in the 21st minute. In the 22nd minute, Eraldo Martinelli fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Eugenio Bertolini, passed just outside the right post. 25 minutes into the game, Castel Mella's Dave Costacurta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Francesco Baresi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. After 30 played minutes Castel Mella got a freekick which was hit by Christian Montagna. The audience was convinced that Dave Costacurta's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Francesco Baresi was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Eugenio Bertolini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eugenio Bertolini took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francesco Marrone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Alfonso Vanni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Bagnara's goalkeeper Francesco Baresi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 95 played minutes Castel Mella got a freekick which was hit by Dave Costacurta. Filippo Bolognesi hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. The Castel Mella players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
