The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 5 minutes, Elia Bordon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Asseggiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elia Bordon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Asseggiano booed when Vetrego AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugenio Maranzano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Camillo Marchesani put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Diego Fabiani. Andrea Teti blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dario Di Palma having to make a save. The nice shot from Andrea Teti in the 22ndth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Dario Di Palma had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. If Elia Bordon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
