The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Emiliano Rossini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristoforo Gerosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Corrado Ferraresi having to interfere. After 13 played minutes Adriano Checchia rounded Vito's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Vito's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Adriano Checchia 17 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. The supporters of Vito booed when Santa Caterina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donato Rozzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ferruccio Carta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Granata in the 46th minute of play. Vito were awarded a corner in the 48th minute after Santa Caterina's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aldo Chiappini took the corner. Amos Di Giambattista tried to clear up in front of the goal, but didn't succeed and rather the ball rolled into the own goal to the right of a despaired Ferruccio Carta. An unnecessary self made goal, 2-1 in the 49th minute.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adriano Checchia to make the kick off. A hard shot 59 in the game by Aurelio Granata from a close distance when the talented Ferruccio Carta managed to make a qualified save. Santa Caterina's players were relieved. Adriano Checchia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Santa Caterina booed when Vito was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Angelo Andreoli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santa Caterina's Ferruccio Carta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emiliano Rossini in the 78th minute of play. Aurelio Granata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Ferruccio Carta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Caterina's zone, Emiliano Rossini stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ferruccio Carta came out of the goal and Emiliano Rossini tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emiliano Rossini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Ferruccio Carta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Santa Caterina's Ferruccio Carta proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Santa Caterina from getting a goal against them. When Adriano Checchia came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Santa Caterina fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adriano Checchia couldn't finish the play. Santa Caterina were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Vito for a fine match.
