With a little luck, Catona's Camillo Barbanti got control of the ball when Fortunato Piacentini tried to sneak it across the goal line. Camillo Barbanti showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferruccio Gismondi, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Basilicagoiano's Eraldo Mameli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camillo Fantini in the 21st minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Basilicagoiano's Ferruccio Gismondi slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Camillo Barbanti. That made the score 1-0 after 25 minutes of play. If Ferruccio Gismondi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basilicagoiano's Eraldo Mameli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camillo Fantini in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Antonio Chiavetta made a precise shot to the right of Eraldo Mameli. Basilicagoiano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. If Fortunato Piacentini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ferruccio Gismondi was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ferruccio Gismondi in the 63rd minute of play forced Catona's goalkeeper Camillo Barbanti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Camillo Barbanti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Basilicagoiano. Ferruccio Gismondi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Camillo Barbanti tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ferruccio Gismondi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Camillo Barbanti having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fortunato Piacentini in the 81st minute of play forced Catona's goalkeeper Camillo Barbanti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
