The coaching staff of Saiano FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Alvaro Addari had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 8th minute of the game. One of Saiano FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Ancona:s goal. Donato Di Fabio shot the penalty kick right outside the post. Ancona's Enrico Apicella suffered a sore thigh after 20 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 20 minutes into the game, Francesco Puddu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The referee ignored Saiano FC's protests and gave Federico Testa a yellow card for diving instead. Ancona's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
