Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Amedeo Rainaldi made the kick off which started today's match. After a defensive mix-up in Montale's zone, Amos Carciofo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciro Scarcella came out of the goal and Amos Carciofo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlo Biondi came free with the goalkeeper in the 18th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Ciro Scarcella could save by the left post. Claudio Ronconi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Domenico Rocchetti read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 20th minute of play. 26 minutes into the game, Fabio Trasatti was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Montale's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Varlungo the free kick. A collision led to Montale getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Fabio Trasatti hit a great ball. When Varlungo's Amos Carciofo in the 28th minute got a chance for a shot 28th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Montale's goalie prevented a goal. In the 34th minute Amos Carciofo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Scarcella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudio Ronconi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 44thth minute of the game Amedeo Rainaldi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Varlungo's Domenico Rocchetti was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Carlo Biondi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Montale were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The wind increased when Amos Carciofo made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Varlungo were awarded a corner. Florian Forlano went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Florian Forlano got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ciro Scarcella quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 57th minute, Emilio De Rossi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Amedeo Rainaldi struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Domenico Rocchetti didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Montale. The audience thought a goal was coming when Claudio Ronconi got free with Domenico Rocchetti in the 62nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ciro Scarcella showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlo Biondi in the 64th minute of the match. Emilio De Rossi hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Montale's Amedeo Rainaldi got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Carlo Biondi in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ciro Scarcella saved Montale from getting behind. The supporters of Montale booed when Varlungo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Ricciuti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Montale's Ciro Scarcella played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amos Carciofo in the 79th minute of play. Amedeo Rainaldi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Domenico Rocchetti having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Amedeo Rainaldi kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Domenico Rocchetti. That made the score 0-2 in the 84 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Varlungo's zone, Claudio Ronconi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Domenico Rocchetti came out of the goal and Claudio Ronconi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Montale booed when Varlungo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antonio Ricciuti didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th minute, Amedeo Rainaldi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over Montale could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Varlungo throughout the match.
