The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Franco De Felice during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Amos Nero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Mazzocchi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Federico Romino's late challenge caught a Murelle Vechia FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Federico Romino helped the player get up and apologised. Federico Romino hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. 16 minutes into the match, Collina's goal looked a bit too open when Beppe Lombardi came free, but Ciro Guidoni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 17 played minutes Collina got a freekick which was hit by Edmondo Di Carlo. 19 minutes into the match, Collina's goal looked a bit too open when Anselmo Margoni came free, but Ciro Guidoni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Beppe Lombardi might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ciro Guidoni. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. When Franco De Felice was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 24 minutes had been played. In the 24th match minute, Murelle Vechia FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Franco De Felice to maneuver through the defense. If Ernesto Mazzocchi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Beppe Lombardi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes into the match, Fabiano Menna notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Collina's Ciro Guidoni. Ciro Guidoni was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a defensive mix-up in Collina's zone, Beppe Lombardi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ciro Guidoni came out of the goal and Beppe Lombardi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabiano Menna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ciro Guidoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, Collina was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Federico Romino to maneuver through the defense. Ernesto Mazzocchi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aldo Albertosi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amos Nero having to interfere. If Aldo Albertosi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Murelle Vechia FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ernesto Mazzocchi was the one to do the kick off. Amos Nero made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernesto Mazzocchi in the 55th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Murelle Vechia FC's Anselmo Margoni got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 64th minute of the match Collina got a corner. Murelle Vechia FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Donato Spinelli ran over to the corner to take the kick. After some careless play in the Murelle Vechia FC defense, Aldo Albertosi kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Amos Nero. The Murelle Vechia FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Amos Nero should have stopped the shot. 71 minutes into the game, Enrico Baciadonne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Collina's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Murelle Vechia FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Collina's Enrico Baciadonne got a free kick in the 71st minute. Ettore Marziali received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 74th minute. Ciro Guidoni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 75th minute, Fabiano Menna hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 78 minutes into the match, Murelle Vechia FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto Mazzocchi came free, but Amos Nero reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 81 minutes into the game, Collina's Aldo Albertosi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amos Nero made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aldo Albertosi in the 90th minute of play forced Murelle Vechia FC's goalkeeper Amos Nero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Murelle Vechia FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
