But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabiano Porta couldn't finish the play. After 14 played minutes Vallerana AFC got a freekick which was hit by Cristiano Moreschi. After a defensive mix-up in Vallerana AFC's zone, Fabiano Porta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ettore Falcioni came out of the goal and Fabiano Porta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Vallerana AFC getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Dario Gava hit a great ball. Fossalta FC's Emilio Conforti got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The long shot by Ciccio Bartolucci in the 23rd minute really tested Ferruccio Bonanni's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Ernesto Costacurta might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ferruccio Bonanni. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ernesto Costacurta ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 26th minute, Emilio Di Felice fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 31stth minute of the game Fabiano Porta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vallerana AFC's Ettore Falcioni was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Emilio Conforti fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ettore Falcioni having to interfere. Cosimo Vulcano hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Emilio Garofalo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Ferruccio Bonanni. Fossalta FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a little luck, Fossalta FC's Ferruccio Bonanni got control of the ball when Emilio Garofalo tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Emilio Di Felice made the kick off in the second half. Emilio Di Felice's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ferruccio Bonanni read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Emilio Conforti scored 1-1 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ettore Falcioni, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Emilio Conforti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ettore Falcioni. Vallerana AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Emilio Conforti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2.
