The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Asseggiano's Ercole Di Donato got a free kick in the 5th minute. Carmine Picca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Comunardo Righi having to interfere. With a little luck, Asseggiano's Comunardo Righi got control of the ball when Felice Petricca tried to sneak it across the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Alex Iezzi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Asseggiano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Fabio AFC the free kick. In the 17thth minute of the game Alex Iezzi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fabio AFC's Ermanno Labate was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Alex Iezzi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ermanno Labate having to interfere. After having played for 22 minutes, Alberto Scacchi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Asseggiano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Scacchi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ermanno Labate showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alex Iezzi, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. When Felice Petricca fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fabio AFC's protests and gave Felice Petricca a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Asseggiano booed when Fabio AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felice Petricca didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alberto Scacchi in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ermanno Labate saved Fabio AFC from getting behind. Fabio AFC's Ermanno Labate played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Scacchi in the 43rd minute of play. In the 45th minute Alex Iezzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ermanno Labate saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felice Petricca fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Comunardo Righi having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Felice Petricca made a kick off. If Francesco Rozzi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ermanno Labate made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alberto Scacchi in the 57th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Felice Petricca in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Comunardo Righi prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 61st minute Felice Petricca shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Comunardo Righi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 63rd minute of the game. One of Fabio AFC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Asseggiano:s goal. After a rather tough play, Fabio AFC's Francesco Rozzi got a free kick in the 76th minute. With an all-out effort, Asseggiano's Ermanno Labate threw himself towards the right post 77 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Alex Iezzi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Comunardo Righi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felice Petricca, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Claudio Di Toro's late challenge caught a Asseggiano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Claudio Di Toro helped the player get up and apologised. 90 minutes into the game, one of Fabio AFC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Iezzi in the 95th minute of play forced Fabio AFC's goalkeeper Ermanno Labate to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Asseggiano players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Fabio AFC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
