Match Report
Stadio Monterenzio
Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25,
Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Alessio Grimaldi made the kick off which started today's match. When Alessio Grimaldi came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Monterenzio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alessio Grimaldi couldn't finish the play. Biagio Capobianco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Augusto Ricci having to interfere. Biagio Capobianco might have been able to make a better finish in the 12th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Augusto Ricci. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Biagio Capobianco ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 15th minute, Dino Giorgi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ercole Antognoni, 15 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Alberigo Scannella kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Biagio Capobianco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Augusto Ricci was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Filippo Bottone managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ancognano AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Filippo Bottone was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Augusto Ricci breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Augusto Ricci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Filippo Bottone in the 26th minute of play. Alessio Grimaldi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Angelo Palleschi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Ancognano AFC's Fausto Vasco got a free kick in the 30th minute. After 31 played minutes, Monterenzio's Ercole Antognoni shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Angelo Palleschi came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Monterenzio reached it. Augusto Ricci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filippo Bottone in the 34th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Andrea La Penna sped through Ancognano AFC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Angelo Palleschi. Andrea La Penna was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 48th minute. Monterenzio's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Filippo Bottone made a kick off. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ancognano AFC's goalkeeper Angelo Palleschi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Andrea La Penna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Monterenzio's Augusto Ricci proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to save Monterenzio from getting a goal against them. Andrea La Penna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Andrea La Penna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Biagio Capobianco succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-1 in the 77th playminute. Monterenzio's Augusto Ricci proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 89th minute of the match, managed to save Monterenzio from getting a goal against them. When Antonio Cerrone fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Monterenzio's protests and gave Antonio Cerrone a yellow card for diving instead. In the 90th minute, Antonio Cerrone hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ancognano AFC's goalkeeper Angelo Palleschi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
