In the 5th minute, one of Villata:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Villata. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Udine. Dennis Di Claudio stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Antonello Marcelli. 0-1. After having played for 10 minutes, Enrico Carrea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Villata's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enrico Carrea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 14 minutes, Alex Ferrara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Udine's Armin Toccaceli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Udine from getting a goal against them. Arrigo Oberrauch fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Antonello Marcelli having to interfere. The Udine fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Udine's Arrigo Oberrauch looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Daniele Iori recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 34th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristiano Gerola charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Cristiano Gerola the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 38th minute, Arrigo Oberrauch got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Armin Toccaceli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristiano Gerola in the 49th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The supporters of Villata booed when Udine was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alessandro Ferraro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enrico Carrea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Antonello Marcelli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arrigo Oberrauch in the 59th minute of the match. Armin Toschi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 62nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Armin Toccaceli. Udine's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Alex Ferrara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 65 played minutes Villata got a freekick which was hit by Ferruccio Cerasoli. After a rather tough play, Udine's Bianco Pierdomenico got a free kick in the 79th minute. Villata's Enrico Carrea got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniele Iori sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 94th minute there was a penalty for Villata. Alvise Porta stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Armin Toccaceli. 2-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Frank Magno during the 99th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Udine getting a freekick after 99 minutes play. Frank Magno hit a great ball. In the 100th minute, Alvise Porta sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Udine's Armin Toccaceli didn't even have to move. Villata were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
