Ciccio Paoluccis short, quick shot in the 38thth minute got Antonello Tiberio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Dino Montini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Emiliano Fabiani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Verona's supporters rose to their feet, but Emiliano Fabiani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frank Giardino breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dino Montini to strike the kick off in the second half. Frank Giardino made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dino Montini in the 55th minute. If Antonello Rosati had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. In the 72nd minute of the match San Pellegrino got a corner. Verona's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Aldo Piacentini ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Aldo Piacentini got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Antonello Tiberio quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 75th minute Dino Montini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Giardino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 80th minute, Ciccio Paolucci made a precise shot to the right of Antonello Tiberio. Verona's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After a rather tough play, San Pellegrino's Francesco Bardella got a free kick in the 82nd minute. After some careless play in the Verona defense, Corrado Trivelli kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antonello Tiberio. The Verona fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antonello Tiberio should have stopped the shot. Verona's Antonello Tiberio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antonello Rosati in the 92nd minute of play.
