Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Claudio Pasinati in the 4th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arrigo Caccavale prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Ciccio Lampa came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Ruata Chiusani AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ciccio Lampa couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Ruata Chiusani AFC defense, Cesare Corelli kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arrigo Caccavale. The Ruata Chiusani AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arrigo Caccavale should have stopped the shot. Frank Costacurta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmine Guerrini in the 18th minute of the match. Frank Costacurta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carmine Guerrini, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cesare Corelli could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Arrigo Caccavale made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ennio Menna during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Ruata Chiusani AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ennio Menna. The audience was convinced that Ciccio Lampa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Frank Costacurta was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Cesare Corelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 31 minutes into the match, Ruata Chiusani AFC's Carmine Guerrini sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Frank Costacurta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ruata Chiusani AFC's Ennio Menna got his second yellow card of the match in the 38th minute. The referee ordered Ennio Menna off the ground. In the 39th match minute, Ruata Chiusani AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ennio Menna to maneuver through the defense. Pianura's Cesare Corelli got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Claudio Pasinati received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Arrigo Caccavale tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Claudio Pasinati to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes Pianura got a freekick which was hit by Ennio Marcelli. Frank Costacurta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciccio Lampa in the 56th minute. Fulvio Boninsegna hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. If Ciccio Lampa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Ruata Chiusani AFC's zone, Cesare Corelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arrigo Caccavale came out of the goal and Cesare Corelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Ruata Chiusani AFC's Carmine Guerrini slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Frank Costacurta. That made the score 1-1 after 72 minutes of play. Pianura's Cesare Corelli got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Frank Costacurta showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciccio Lampa, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Ciccio Lampa struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Frank Costacurta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ruata Chiusani AFC. Frank Costacurta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ciccio Lampa in the 85th minute. Claudio Pasinati fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arrigo Caccavale having to interfere. 89 minutes into the game, Pianura's Cesare Corelli nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Arrigo Caccavale made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. A collision led to Pianura getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Ennio Marcelli hit a great ball. Ciccio Lampa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Frank Costacurta made a huge save. When Fulvio Boninsegna fell near the penalty area in the 96th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pianura's protests and gave Fulvio Boninsegna a yellow card for diving instead. In the 97th match minute, Pianura was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fulvio Boninsegna to maneuver through the defense. Ruata Chiusani AFC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
