The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Amos Danza during the 3rd minute. With a little luck, Ne's Alfredo Falone got control of the ball when Carter Fata tried to sneak it across the goal line. Andrea Leopardi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fortunato Gerola, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Alfredo Di Croce hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. After having played for 17 minutes, Frank Tatangelo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ne's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Tatangelo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ne's Frank Tatangelo got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arturo Ferretti hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Frank Tatangelo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andrea Leopardi having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Volla's Arturo Ferretti got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 33rd minute Ne were awarded a corner. Andrea Di Lillo went to the cornerflag to take it. If Frank Tatangelo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47th minute of the match Amos Danza shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Andrea Leopardi showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frank Tatangelo was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donato Carota in the 57th minute of play forced Ne's goalkeeper Alfredo Falone to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donato Carota struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Alfredo Falone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Volla. A collision led to Ne getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Andrea Di Lillo hit a great ball. After 62 played minutes Volla got a freekick which was hit by Fortunato Lorenzi. Ernesto Marchesani sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 78 minutes into the match, Ne's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Carota came free, but Alfredo Falone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ne's Eugenio Treglia got a free kick in the 84th minute. After having played for 85 minutes, Donato Carota managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
