The crowd rose to their feet as Pieve Vecchia AFC's Ermanno Raniolo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Franco Azzolina. That made the score 1-0 after 10 minutes of play. Alberigo Perna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes in the game, Ermanno Raniolo fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Franco Azzolina having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Filippo Desiderio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 38th minute, Filippo Desiderio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arrigo Cavaliere was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 40th minute, Federico Carbonetti hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42nd minute, one of Diolaguardia FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Diolaguardia FC. With an all-out effort, Pieve Vecchia AFC's Franco Azzolina threw himself towards the right post 48 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ermanno Raniolo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alberigo Perna to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Pieve Vecchia AFC's zone, Filippo Desiderio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arrigo Cavaliere came out of the goal and Filippo Desiderio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arrigo Cavaliere made an important save on a dangerous shot by Filippo Desiderio in the 57th minute. Franco Azzolina didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alessandro Bertolini went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. Alessandro Bertolini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Franco Azzolina tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 73 minutes in the game, Filippo Desiderio fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Arrigo Cavaliere having to interfere. 76 minutes into the match, Ermanno Raniolo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Franco Azzolina. Diolaguardia FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ermanno Raniolo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. 79 minutes into the game, Arturo Corvi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pieve Vecchia AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Diolaguardia FC the free kick. A collision led to Pieve Vecchia AFC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Arturo Corvi hit a great ball. When Filippo Desiderio came up free with the goalie in the 80th minute, the Diolaguardia FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Filippo Desiderio couldn't finish the play. Arrigo Cavaliere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberigo Perna, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. After 98 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Diolaguardia FC! The referee gave Pieve Vecchia AFC a penalty, 100 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Bernardo Ranieri, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Diolaguardia FC's Franco Azzolina. 7-2.
